Fire King Musclewood

An excellent choice for areas with restricted space and sunlight, Fire King™ Musclewood is a hardy and well-structured tree. Selected by Mike Yanny, this variety survived a severe and snowless winter unscathed. A fast grower, with consistent orange-red fall color in full sun that develops a dense round crown as it matures. The seeds and catkins attract wildlife, and it serves as a host to many butterflies in their larval stage such as the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail. Adaptable to a range of soil types, and best grown with a healthy ring of mulch around the root zone. Use as a screen or specimen in the landscape. A Johnson’s Nursery introduction.
